We are absolutely thrilled to share some fantastic news with our community! Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our Child Nutrition Department, Cleveland Public Schools has been approved for the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the next four years. This approval means that all students, regardless of income, will receive free meals!
This incredible opportunity has been a long time coming. Our team has investigated and attempted to bring this program to our campus for years. As the parameters changed and our community’s needs shifted, we finally secured this grant. We are so thankful and blessed to bring this benefit to every member of our Tiger Family.
Refunding Lunch Account Credits
In light of this new provision, we are also addressing existing lunch account credits. The district is in the process of refunding all lunch accounts that meet the following criteria:
- Households with a credit of over $10.00
Exceptions include:
- High school students with a history of ala carte purchases will retain their funds for ala carte or second meal use.
- Multi-student households with high schoolers known to purchase ala carte may have all funds rolled into the high school student’s account for ala carte or second meal use.
Please note that this program does not prorate. If you have a negative balance remaining from last school year, those funds are still due. If your household credit is under $10.00, the district has already contacted you to discuss the use of those funds.
Maintaining This Benefit
To ensure we can continue offering this incredible benefit, we need your help. Every student must complete a Household Survey Form, which will be distributed in August. This simple one-page form replaces the previously complicated multi-page Free and Reduced Lunch Form. Your participation is crucial in maintaining this benefit for all students in the coming school years.
Free Breakfast and Lunches for All!
We are beyond excited to provide free breakfast and lunches to all students regardless of income starting next school year. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to the well-being and success of our students.
Thank you for being a part of our wonderful community. Together, we can ensure that every student has access to nutritious meals every day. Let’s celebrate this fantastic achievement and look forward to a brighter, healthier future for all!
