Cleveland Cross Country: A Season of Growth, Grit, and Historic Wins

The 2025 season was one to remember for Cleveland Cross Country, as runners from elementary through high school made program history, broke personal records, and brought home multiple championships. Under the leadership of Coach Jeremy McKinney, the program continued to build momentum and pride across every level.

A special congratulations to Kidan and Josiah Logsdon for qualifying for state as individuals.

Program Pride
Altogether, Cleveland Cross Country has established itself as a legitimate force at every level — earning nine Conference Championships in the last five years and six individual champions in the last four. Both high school teams are chasing state qualification and continue to raise the bar for future runners.

Coach McKinney summed it up best:
“Our program continues to grow and improve at all levels. Our numbers are strong, our athletes are motivated, and Cleveland Cross Country is well respected across the state.”

Elementary Boys
Our Elementary Boys made huge strides this season, with every runner improving week after week. Their determination paid off with a dominant championship victory at the Cleveland Invitational. Team numbers are on the rise, and four standout runners earned invitations to compete in the Oklahoma All-Star Championships in Chickasha — a remarkable accomplishment for such a young group. The future of Cleveland Cross Country is bright with this crew leading the charge.

Elementary Girls
The Elementary Girls team also showed tremendous progress, both in performance and participation. Several runners brought home individual medals throughout the season, highlighted by a team championship win at the Oklahoma Union Invitational. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and energy have laid a strong foundation for the next generation of Lady Tigers runners.

Middle School Boys
The Middle School Boys delivered a powerhouse season — winning four championship titles (Okmulgee, Holdenville, Cleveland, and Tulsa 7) and finishing in the Top 3 at every meet. They even topped 6A powerhouse Owasso early in the year. With their third Tulsa 7 Conference title in four years and standout performances from eighth-grader Michael Kesner, the Tulsa 7 Champion, this group has cemented itself as one of the strongest in program history.

Middle School Girls
For the Middle School Girls, this was a year of rebuilding and resilience. Despite their youth, they captured championship wins at Holdenville and Okmulgee and earned multiple Top 3 team finishes along the way. Their steady growth and positive spirit have set the stage for another strong conference run next season.

High School Boys
The High School Boys team made history this fall, recording the best results in program history. They finished 2nd at the U.S. Army National Guard Invitational at Camp Gruber, claimed their first-ever team titles at Okmulgee and Oklahoma Union, and finished as Tulsa 7 Conference runners-up — another program best. Their back-to-back championships and consistent performances against higher-ranked opponents have placed them firmly among the state’s rising teams. With a young, determined roster, this group’s climb is only beginning. In the culmination of the season, the boys finished regional at 8th place missing out of a top 6 finish to qualify for state as a team.

High School Girls
Even after graduating two of the state’s top runners, the High School Girls continued to set the standard for excellence. They captured four meet victories (U.S. Army National Guard Invitational, Okmulgee, Cleveland, and Oklahoma Union) and celebrated their third consecutive Tulsa 7 Conference Championship — a three-peat that may be unmatched in Cleveland athletics history. The Lady Tigers have now been ranked in the top tier of Oklahoma programs for three straight seasons and continue to lead by example with their grit and unity. The Lady Tigers finished 7th on the season in regional play. Missing state qualifying by a mere 18 points.

Congratulations to all our runners and coaches for an unforgettable season that showcased the best of Tiger pride — perseverance, teamwork, and heart.
