BARK Digital Safety Parent Night

This November, Cleveland Schools is partnering with Bark, a national leader in student online safety, for a weeklong series of lessons, training sessions, and community events designed to help keep our students safe online. Bark is one of three advanced filtering and monitoring tools used by the district to help protect students and staff as they navigate technology for learning and communication.

The highlight of the week will be Bark Family Night, a Parent Documentary Screening on Tuesday November 4th, 6pm, at Stage Centre, located near the library and community center. The featured film exposes the real dangers of the internet, social media, and smartphones — and it’s one every parent should see. Staff members previewed the documentary earlier this fall and immediately booked it for the community, calling it an “eye opener” that every parent needs to experience.

🎁 Giveaways include TVs, Tiger apparel, and Bark Phones, plus free snacks and swag for all who attend!
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Whether your child is in elementary school or high school, this event will equip parents with practical strategies to talk with their kids about healthy technology use.

Earlier in the week, Bark staff will visit Cleveland Intermediate School on November 4th, 5th, and 6th to teach lessons on digital citizenship, online privacy, and safe communication. The two-day program ends with a unique take-home activity — students will bring home a Bark Phone for one night to complete short quizzes and conversations with their parents about online safety.

Meanwhile, Cleveland technology staff and counselors will take part in a professional development training on November 5th, exploring how screen time and social media affect today’s students — and how schools can help build resilience and emotional balance in the digital age.

This collaboration with Bark is part of Cleveland Schools’ larger effort to equip our entire Tiger Family — students, parents, and staff — with the tools needed to raise up a generation that is resilient, healthy, and kind, both online and off.
