                  Cleveland Primary School Creed

I am a Cleveland Primary student.

I am unique and special.

I am responsible for my own actions.

I can be anything I want to be.

I know my teachers love and believe in me.

I have potential.

I can succeed.

I have Great Expectations!

Cleveland Primary School provides educational services for students in kindergarten through 2nd grade.   We currently have 6 all-day kindergarten homerooms, 1 transitional first grade homeroom, 6 first grade homerooms and 6 second grade homerooms.  All of our students participate in Physical Education, Music, Computer Lab and Library Skills.

Also, Cleveland offers an outstanding 4-year-old program at the Early Childhood Center located at 900 W. Delaware.  For information about this program, call (918) 358-2210 ext. 600.

All of Cleveland Primary School’s faculty members meet the highly qualified standards of the No Child Left Behind Act and the continual Staff Development requirements for the state of Oklahoma.  The Primary School staff has attended both Great Expectations and Literacy First Training Sessions.  Some of our faculty members have obtained Master’s Degrees and National Board Certification.

Each school day begins with Rise & Shine Time.  All of the students and faculty meet in the gym to say the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag, the Pledge of Allegiance to the Oklahoma Flag, sing a patriotic song, recite the School Creed and observe a Moment of Silence.

Our curriculum is aligned in accordance with the Priority Academic Student Skills adopted by the Oklahoma State Board of Education.  Scott-Foresman Reading, Saxon Math and Zaner-Bloser Handwriting are core components of our curriculum.

Reading Discovery is provided for 1st and 2nd grade students who qualify to receive additional reading instruction.  After-school tutoring in reading and math is provided for students who qualify for these additional services.

Learning Resource Labs are provided for students who qualify to receive special educational services.

Gifted Instruction is provided by homeroom teachers for 2nd graders who meet the qualifications to participate in weekly enrichment activities.

2nd grade students take the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills Achievement Test and the Cognitive Abilities Test.

A Back-to-School Night is always scheduled before the first day of school so students and parents can meet the teachers and visit their homeroom classes.  Progress reports are issued the 5th week of each quarter.  Report cards are issued at the end of each 9 weeks period.  Parent/Teacher Conferences are scheduled in the fall and spring.

Parents and students are given a handbook at the beginning of the school year.  The Cleveland Primary School Handbook contains the policies and regulations for students who attend Cleveland Primary School and their parents/guardians.  It is very important that parents/guardians read the handbook, share the information with their children and encourage their children to follow the policies and regulations that have been established.  There is a Handbook Confirmation Form at the back of the handbook that needs to be signed, dated and returned to the homeroom teachers the first week of school.  There are other forms at the back of the handbook that need to be completed and returned also.

We look forward to the opportunity of providing the children in our community with the best education possible.  Great students, outstanding teachers/support personnel, caring parents and a supportive community make a great team!  Cleveland Primary School has great expectations!
