41 percent of all traffic crashes are alcohol-related.
Nearly 600,000 Americans are injured in alcohol-related traffic crashes each year.
Someone dies in an alcohol-related traffic crash every 30 minutes. Every two minutes someone is hurt (nonfatally injured) in an alcohol-related accident.
Three out of every 10 Americans face the possibility of being directly involved in an alcohol-related traffic crash during their lifetime.
Seasonal Depression Awareness Month:
With the shortest days of the year falling in December, this is the peak time for seasonal affective disorder. Could it be a lack of sunlight that's causing your winter blues?
Symptoms:
Some of the symptoms of seasonal affective disorder are physical. Appetite often changes in marked contrast to spring and summer. People can experience uncontrollable cravings for sweet and starchy foods such as cookies, chocolate, pasta and bread, which causes them to put on a few pounds. Dieting seems out of the question. Some notice marked changes in their need for sleep or their ability to sleep normal hours. It can become tough to wake up in the morning in time for work or school, and daytime fatigue persists no matter how much sleep they get at night.
Have a safe and Happy Holiday!
