Other Important Stuff
D. Luman
Physical Science is the study of matter and energy. We will investigate the basic principles of physics and chemistry in this class. There will be a variety of methods used in this class including, but not limited to, daily work, homework, written and oral reports, hands-on activities, laboratory investigations, and a mandatory notebook. The notebook will contain each and every assignment obtained during the semester. A notebook grade will be taken during both semesters and will be worth 200 points each time.
Grades will be determined by dividing the number of points a student earns by the total number of points possible. The resulting percentage will then receive a letter grade as follows:
89.5% = A
79.5% = B
69.5% = C
59.5% = D
59.4% and lower = F. A comprehensive final will be given at the end of the semester. Extra credit is sometimes given.
Class rules are listed on “Classroom Expectations.” Water bottles are allowed in this classroom, unless they begin to interfere with the educational process. Two emergency passes will be granted per semester. These passes may be used for restroom or locker passes. You will not be given an emergency pass while the class is in the middle of a lesson. Any extra emergency passes used will require a writing assignment. No one who owes sentences will be allowed to leave the room. Sentences for any disturbance in my class begin at 200 , due the next day, signed by a parent. If the sentences are not turned in, the sentences are automatically doubled. After the 2nd due date, you will be given a referral. If the situation cannot be resolved between the student and myself, you will have an appointment with Mr. Hiatt or Mr. Baker.
All assignments for a chapter, unless a specific due date is set, will be due the day of the chapter test. After the chapter test is taken, all late assignments will be given a zero.
Restricted areas to be observed in Room 7 are the teachers’ desks. You do not need to pilfer through the cabinets and drawers, unless given permission. You would not appreciate it very much if I went through your personal “stuff” at your home.
I am available before and after school, but especially after school. I will help you, but you must WANT the help. I won’t do it for you.
Copying will not be tolerated & will result in an automatic zero for that assignment/test. “No name” papers will be given an automatic zero.
Regarding substitute teachers: If there is a substitute in my classroom & your name is written down for causing any sort of disturbance, I will very promptly right you up as soon as I get back. You will not be disrespectful to my sub.
