Intermediate Archery Team Hits the Bullseye This Season.

The Cleveland Intermediate Archery Team is making waves this season, demonstrating dedication, skill, and a drive for excellence. With five tournaments under their belts—Chouteau-Mazie, Booker T. Washington, Stroud, Cleveland, and Sand Springs—the team has consistently proven their prowess by earning either 1st or 2nd place trophies at each event. Impressively, the team has improved their overall score each time, starting the season with a team score of 2594 and qualifying for state with a record-breaking 2856—a new Intermediate Team Record!

Outstanding Individual Performances

Several team members have showcased remarkable individual achievements:

  • Jett Bart has had a stellar season, claiming two 1st-place finishes and one 2nd-place finish.
  • Korrah Basile has been equally impressive, taking home three 1st-place trophies and a 3rd-place finish.
  • Lucas Padden capped off the regular season with a 1st place at Sand Springs and set a new team record with a score of 260 out of a perfect 300. This incredible achievement has propelled him to #4 in the state for the Elementary Boys Division!

Coaches’ Insights

“Currently, our team is sitting 3rd in the state,” says Coach Brewer. “But we will need to muster up another 100 points or so by State in mid-February if we want to keep that position. There’s still a lot to do, but I know these kids are willing to put in the work to reach that goal.”

Coach O’Rourke, a new addition to the coaching staff this year, shared their enthusiasm for the team: “Archery brings something special to these students’ lives. It builds focus and concentration all while teaching these young athletes work ethic and how to be good teammates to their peers. This has been a great group of kids to work with. The commitment they have shown to the program has made all the difference in their successes. I look forward to seeing what they will do the rest of the season.”

Community Support

Coach Brewer also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming community support: “From the support of our fundraiser to passing words of encouragement from people I run into out and about, the support our little town shows for archery kids warms my heart, and we truly could not do this without it.”

Looking Ahead

The team plans to participate in another competition or two before the State Tournament in mid-February to stay tournament-ready. If they perform well at State, as they did last year, they’ll have the opportunity to head to Nationals in Kentucky this May.

The Cleveland Intermediate Archery Team continues to embody the spirit of hard work, determination, and teamwork. As they aim for the State Tournament and beyond, the entire community is behind them, cheering them on to even greater success. Stay tuned for updates on their journey to Nationals!
