Cleveland Schools Board Meeting Recap – March 2025

The Cleveland Schools Board of Education met in March to discuss key items impacting our students, staff, and facilities. Here’s a summary of the highlights:

Key Approvals & Decisions

Student Transfer Capacity – The board approved the district’s transfer capacity for the quarter. Families can stay updated on available transfer spots at this link.

School Calendar Updates – Adjustments were made to the 2024-25 school calendar, particularly regarding snow days. The 2025-26 school calendar was also finalized. Check out this link on our website for the full calendar updates!

Staff Paid Time Off – May 13, 2025, was approved as a paid day off for applicable nine-month employees, following a scheduled Distance Learning day on May 12.

Bond Sale Plans – The final phase of the 2016 Tiger Vision bond will be sold, and the district will begin issuing bonds for 2025. The public bond sale will take place on April 7 at 7 AM, with a special board meeting scheduled for April 30 at noon.

Contracts & Agreements – The board approved agreements with:

  • Bailee Green, for artwork at the stadium
  • Jeff Veley Productions, for the “Bro. Be Nice.” student campaign

Major Purchases – Approved expenditures included:

  • $117,000 for new grass at the stadium
  • $21,000 for concrete at the Ag Barn
  • $25,000 for local beef, funded through a food service grant – expect fresh-grilled burgers on the menu soon!

District Updates & Announcements

📌 Flexible Learning for Elementary Students – Starting next year, qualifying elementary students with strong attendance and academic standing will have the option to participate in a blended learning program.

📌 Half-Day Pre-K Enrollment – Currently, 4 out of 36 families have chosen this option.

📌 CHS Course Enrollment Commercials – The high school is showcasing its diverse coursework with student-produced commercials highlighting vocational trades, hands-on technology, and arts programs. Watch them on Facebook each evening till March 15th. Or see the videos on our blog posts before this.

📌 Vo-Ag & Stadium Upgrades

  • The Ag Campus is undergoing improvements, including new concrete, gravel drives, fencing, and concession stand upgrades.
  • The stadium is preparing for major renovations, including bleacher removal and a new playing surface after soccer season.
