As the 2024-25 basketball season tips off, both the Cleveland Lady Tigers and Tigers boys’ teams are ready to bring energy, grit, and heart to the court. With young rosters, strong leadership, and a hunger to compete, these teams are poised to make their mark this season.
The Cleveland Lady Tigers are embracing the 2024 season with determination and a vision for the future. With no seniors on the roster, this young team of 11 athletes is focused on building experience and testing their skills against tough competition. Coach Mike Arnold sums it up perfectly: “I wouldn’t trade these girls for anyone else. We aren’t scared to play anyone. The future is extremely bright for the Lady Tigers—we just have to trust the process.”
Special recognition goes to the team’s four juniors, who have stepped up as leaders, setting an example of dedication and character for their younger teammates. The Lady Tigers are a cohesive unit where every player’s role is vital. “Our team is built on every player relying on one another,” Coach Arnold shares. “No player is more important than any other. We are a well-built machine, and every part is essential for us to function at our optimal level.”
As they gear up for the Cleveland Tournament this month, the Lady Tigers remain committed to growth and excellence. Beyond their talents on the court, these girls exemplify high character, making the Cleveland community proud. Keep an eye on this team as they pave the way for a promising future in Lady Tigers basketball.
The Cleveland Tigers boys’ basketball team is stepping onto the court this season with a clean slate and an eagerness to compete. After graduating four senior starters last year, the 2024-25 roster is ready to write its own story. Head Coach Daniel Brimmer couldn’t be more excited. “We’re young, hungry, and eager to compete,” he shares.
Sophomore guard Darren Felmlee is the lone returning starter, bringing infectious energy to the team. Senior James O’Daniel leads with a tireless work ethic and fearless attitude, while juniors Tyler Kelcey and Leonardo Higgins look to build on impressive offseasons. The Tigers are also thrilled to welcome back Cole Edens, who is recovering from injury and expected to return at full strength after the New Year. Sophomores Ace Braswell and Dawson Kelsey round out the roster, ready to make an impact in their first varsity action.
Coach Brimmer highlights the importance of leadership and teamwork. “The best player, the point guard, and the coach can’t have bad days. They set the tone,” he emphasizes. “Our scout team plays a huge role in preparing us for competition. Every player and manager contributes to making this team better.”
With 24 athletes from 9th to 12th grade and three dedicated managers, the program is thriving. This month, the Tigers welcome the much-anticipated home opener against Sperry (12/13), and a trip to Berryhill (12/17).
Community Spirit and Support
Both teams are driven by passion, determination, and a deep connection to the Cleveland community. As the Lady Tigers focus on building their foundation and the Tigers boys’ team embarks on a season of opportunity, one thing is clear: these athletes give their all every time they take the court.
As the season unfolds, the Cleveland community is invited to pack the gym, cheer on these young men and women, and celebrate the heart and hustle they bring to Cleveland basketball. Full schedule can be found here, with the most up to date changes viewed on our district calendar page.
