At Cleveland High School, we are committed to equipping our students with real-world skills and hands-on learning experiences. One of our newest additions, the Construction Trades class, is already making impressive progress, giving students a head start in the skilled trades industry.
In just a short time, students have framed several interior rooms inside our shop, demonstrating teamwork and craftsmanship. On top of these rooms, they have installed joists and laid decking, creating a loft that will serve as an integral part of the workspace. While some students tackled the loft, others worked on framing a utility room, additional interior walls, and even a set of stairs for loft access.
Earlier in the semester, students got their hands dirty—literally—by digging a trench to bring a water line into the shop. Looking ahead, they will soon complete interior framing and move on to wiring the shop. Under the guidance of Shaun Chapman from Chapman HVAC, they’ll also gain firsthand experience installing an HVAC system.
This project isn’t just about construction—it’s about collaboration. Our Construction Trades students will partner with Agriculture students, who will fabricate a steel beam to support part of the loft. Once complete, this loft will remain open to the main workspace, lined with workbenches and stations to enhance hands-on learning opportunities for future students.
These students aren’t just building a shop—they’re building skills, confidence, and a foundation for their futures. We are proud of their dedication and look forward to seeing this space continue to take shape! Stay tuned for more updates as our students bring their vision to life.
