BRINGING BACK TRADITION

Celebrating Tiger Pride at Homecoming!!

Last year, we kicked off a new Homecoming Celebration, including representatives from all parts of our school, not just one sport. This year, we are excited to not only continue that tradition but also revive one from 50 years ago! Back then our football games were punctuated by the thunderous roar of a cannon, fired in celebration of each touchdown. These “cannons” were fired off by Cleveland Tiger Faithful like Don Hendricks and Emile Bayouth.

This year, we’re bringing that tradition back with the Tiger Pride Cannon, led by a new generation of Tiger Faithful–The Tiger Cannon Crew, organized by Terlton First Baptist minister, Justin White.

Our desire is not to simply revive an old tradition, but to reignite the spirit of community that has fueled our school for generations. We can find many opinions and beliefs that divide us. But in moments like these, we choose Tiger Pride to unite us. Maybe it’s Pride of our own time spent as a Cleveland Tiger, or Pride in a faculty member that influenced us, maybe even Pride in a community within the school where you felt like you belonged like in FFA, athletics, band, etc.

Homecoming isn’t about a king, queen, sports, wins, or losses. It’s about celebrating us—the students, families, and neighbors of yesterday and today, who make up this wonderful community. It’s about a return home for alumni. Homecoming is when we remind ourselves what it means to be a part of the Tiger Family. A Family that is full of athletes, musicians, debaters, farmers, business professionals, scholars, artists, and so much more.

WE ARE TIGER PRIDE

Let’s choose to celebrate ALL OF US – every member of the Tiger Family. We are bringing Tiger Pride this Friday with a celebration like John Adams said when envisioning the future celebrations of American independence:

“It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Cannons, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.”

We hope this year’s homecoming embodies that same spirit. From the loud cheer of the crowd to the crack of the Tiger Pride Cannon, each moment of the day will reflect the heart and soul of our community.

Our homecoming court—representing students from every part of our school community—stands as a reminder that we are stronger together. Whether you’re in the band, on the field, in the stands, or behind the scenes, you are a part of the tradition and the pride we carry forward.

So, we invite you all—past, present, and future Tigers—to come celebrate with us. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or coming to your first game, join us in making this homecoming one to remember. As the stands fill, the cheers rise, and the Tiger Pride Cannon thunders, this homecoming will remind us why we are proud to call ourselves Tigers.

Don’t forget to tag your photos and memories with #TigerTraditionLives to share the Tiger Pride!
